I created my Medium account in October but didn’t really begin writing until late November in earnest. I fell victim to the quest for 100 followers, but I feel I took a different approach, and it is working wonderfully.

The Key Is to Be Genuine

I don’t really write about topics I have no knowledge or interest in. I read a lot of stories and articles on here that seem to be written by people who aren’t very good writers. Grammarly is free, so is proofreading before publishing.

I made the decision that I was not going to pander to the crowd for claps and reads and highlights. I decided to write for those readers who genuinely need to hear that there is hope after trauma, that there is life after addiction.

So I decided to write genuine, vulnerable content in the hopes of inspiring others to do the same. I have endured some pretty tough times in my life. I will link a couple of those stories below. I only say this because it is my belief that the reason I have gone through these things was so that I can help others now.
